Reliablity, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM)

Infrastructure Managers and Railway Undertakings expect to acquire reliable and maintainable products and systems that are of high quality, readily available, and able to satisfy user requirements.

Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis in accordance with CENELEC standard EN50126 determines the likelihood of product / system failure and the time necessary to return it to an operational state taking into account spares provisions, numbers and competency of maintenance personnel and their ease of access to the railway infrastructure.

We have helped our clients with:

  • RAM Programme Planning
  • RAM Demonstration Planning
  • FRACAS process development
  • Fault Tree Analysis
  • Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis
  • Maintainability Analysis

Project Examples

Great Western Mainline Electrification

We provided support to the Programme RAM Manager in the development of Fault Tree Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis for the deployment of a new overhead rail contact system across the Great Western Mainline.
